Hams behind the scenes.
Menswear, Ladies

No, it's not a new concept, but it's time tested and always one of my favorites. I have a lot of favorites, it's for sure, and I gush about clothes every minute, I know, but what I love about menswear style for women is that I actually wear it. I might not always wear fantastic 1950s dresses, or amazing high heeled shoes, or huge pink bows in my hair but I do wear lady-styled menswear and feel terribly comfortable in it. Now I do not think men have it made in the fashion department, because I totally think they don't, I think WE ladies have it made because we can wear anything! What I like about menswear for us chics is that it's comfy, chic and super easy to find while thrifting! This image is from Facehunter and while I could find all kinds of great examples of women wearing menswear well, I got this one because I am trying really hard to grow out my bob and this gal here has such a great bob I can live vicarously through her donning it.
Media play

This past Monday I was at the taping for Late Night with David Letterman, and while I am not a huge Letterman fan (my husband Chad is) it was very cool to see how a television show like a talk show went on. I wasn't into the guests either (Keifer Sutherland - snore), and I didn't know who the band was. I wanted the guest to be someone like, Steve Carrell or Tina Fey, or even someone weird like when Joaquin Phoenox was on. But nonetheless it was luck of the draw and luck we even got to go! The band was Bat for Lashes and um, I LOVED them, or her, or whatever. It was great 80s electro throwback and she was cute as hell, the singer that is. I also loved the drummer, who was also a girl, she played the timpani with her kit and sang as well. I think aside from seeing the whole production of the show, the best parts were Bat for Lashes and also the Letterman Band led by Paul Shaffer - they are super tight and so seasoned, it's great to see them live.
Maybe an outfit?
Leather & Snakeskin Peeptoe WedgesI realize that last night I did a shop update and kind of posted an outfit! The shoes are even more interesting in person, they have snakeskin detail that has a touch of shimmer, they are great summer heels because of the wedge, peeptoe and slingback, oh and the color, I mustn't forget! I thought I had lost these shoes, I got them long ago while at a chruch garage sale with my mother in the town in which she lives. They then lived in my basement for over a year and I just found them. I never even wore them for some reason, but such is the way with many of my things. I need to start a more judicious policy of wearing all the things I have.
On a springy side note, it's warm, overcast and rainy and my office window is open, there are tons of birds outside and with the warm and the rain I can imagine I live in some sort of rainforest. The birds make the best noise in the spring as not only are they making their regular calls, but also mating calls which you don't hear year round.

Soon to grace the pages of the shop...
So having been away for almost a week, I can say that I really missed my shop, specifically posting new items in the shop and all that that entails! I am so excited to show you what's coming up. Here are just a few!
Morningside Park & last day
It took us until the last day to realize that Morningside Park was mere blocks from us and it's a very pretty place. We started out day there, with a very subpar Dunkin' Donuts coffee (I am such a coffee snob!), but we walked up the maze of stairs toward Columbia University which was a very beautiful area that I liked a lot. And lo and behold an outfit post!

After a outrageously beautiful day in the city, like 85 degrees, we headed out to Pure Food and Wine, a raw food restaurant where we met with friends and at some seriously delicious and creative food. I recommend checking the place out, not only is the food so delicious and healthy, the outdoor seating has to be the best in the city. The night was warm as though it were summer and we lingered there for longer than usual. Today is supposed to be even warmer, and who knows what's in store!

Off to New York
We're off to NYC for almost a week! We are staying at Naomi (of Taza and Husband) & Josh's place (thanks guys!), and we're pretty excited. I have a long list of new places I want to check out in addition to my favorites. I love New York and try and get there as much as possible. I know I won't be thrifting a lot and I am not taking my nice camera, but I am taking my small camera and hope to have some cool shots to post here along the way! Bon voyage to me!
