on a sleeper train

The blog is La Ville Inconnue, the blogger is Carys and the model is Carys' sister. One evening while catching up on some blog reader I came upon this photo set and was pretty much blown away. I love everything about it - her sweater, her hat, her stare,  the lighting, that it's on a sleeper train, her face and that Carys took the photos of her sister, casually, and the result is just stunning, I think.

period films & fashion

Three things I love: Miss Moss blog, period films, fashion. Roll them all together and you have the genius that is Diana of Miss Moss. With a stoke of brilliance she composed these juxtapositions of period films vs. street style in the most entertaining way. She's even got one of my top 3 favorite films in there, Out of Africa, with Meryl Streep, "I once had a farm in Africa...". I could look at hundreds of these, Diana, could you make 100 more of them please? See the original posts here and here.

how warm is cute

Images from Clothes, Camera and Coffee

How cute is this girl? She is Roz, of Clothes, Camera and Coffee and she's a total doll! Her blog is filled with outfits posts that looks like they could go straight into a fashion editorial. I love this one especially because she has risen to the challenge of being terribly cute while it is so very cold outside. Inspiring, no?

Advanced Style

So I have a real thing for older people, I have talked about this before on this blog, but here, I am talking about it again.  My first jobs were purposefully chosen so I could be around older people (nursing home for nuns & bingo hall) and that was pretty strange I suppose. But hey, now there's a cool site, sort of a la The Sartorialist, that is dedicated to the fashionable people who are advanced in age. And I love it. I find so much inspiration in older people who's affinity for fashion has yet to fade. Above are some of my favorite picks from the blog, Advanced Style.

The Habit of Being

images from The Habit of Being

I want to introduce you to The Habit of Being. It is a blog that makes me feel so utterly peaceful in every way. The sparseness, the content and most of all the amazingly beautiful and simple photography. These photos are what I always want it to look like inside my head. Sometimes I feel like it isn't a person keeping this blog at all, but rather just an energy, or being...if you will. It's so silent, but not as though it isn't saying something, just silent. I feel silent when I visit this blog and it seems impossible that anything could be chaotic, I suppose you could call this blog a wonderful little refuge...please have a gander.

She's mad for plaid!

Isn't she terribly adorable? Quincy, of Q's Daydream is the sweetest gal with a weakness for vintage dresses, and right now plaid ones in particular. She bought this little gem from me and it's appears to have been made just for her, doesn't it? She always has such neat photos/shoots on her blog as well, I really love the abandoned rural home and overgrown grass. Stop by her blog and tell her what a cutie pie she is!

Hot Summer Nights

My good friend Amy has just arrived stateside from her artist residence in Budapest and her sweet as sugar husband threw her a little party to welcome her home. It was a hot hot day so I knew just what I would wear. I've been waiting one of two things to happen before I wore this dress - it either needed to be quite a hot day here in Michigan, or I needed to be in Miami. This dress just says Miami to me in every way.

Amy started a blog while in Budapest, and plans to keep it up, which is fun for me because although she lives within' "spittin' distance" of my house, it's a whole different thing to read someone's blog, I think. You can read it here: Gulping Beauty.

Her aforementioned "sweet as sugar" husband also has started a vegan cooking blog that is too damn hilarious. I used to ask him for recipes all the time whereupon he'd email them to me in this very non-traditional recipe style that always had me in stitches. I told him to write a cookbook because not only are they great recipes, it's a hilarious read! The Irreverent Vegan has made it's debut!
