a beautiful mess

I am a bit of a neat freak, I like things real tidy and wig out a little when things aren't that way. But when you go to the same mindblowingly amazing estate sale two days in a row that is basically a vintage warehouse you just somehow deal with a little chaos in your house. I am doing some deep breathing, but am also way way excited about the things I have found in the past two days. It'll take me a month to process it all (sort, clean and photograph), but it's terribly fun sifting through what I have got. All the shoes! All my size! Every dress has it's belt and all it's buttons! Sigh...I've got my work cut out for me, but it's a beautiful mess to be in for sure.

Current status: a samurai who is vibrating with joy!

I drive a 1993 Volvo 940 Wagon. This car has an enormous "trunk". Currently said trunk is absolutely packed, filled, stuffed with vintage clothing (and a wasps nest, but that's not important right now). This morning I got up and drove to an estate sale of my dreams - when I arrived NO ONE was there. I went upstairs to find 3 closets of clothing without not one person around me, no one to worry about, no competition, nada. The woman who owned the clothing was somewhat like me, she seemed to have a collection of 1950s dresses, but then also natural, crochet/cotton type clothing just like what I am wearing in this post. Not only that, but there were bags, gloves and hats. AND, the woman running the sale was NICE! Yes, NICE! So many times the person running the estate is grumpy and sort of hates you for even coming, or so it seems. This woman was so so nice and took my card and I took hers and I am sure I will see her again and hopefully fill up my car as I did today. It is going to take me age to get all thesse garments processed and in the store, but it is going to be so fun later today to go through all the things and meet them all over again! So see, see why I am just vibrating with utter joy? Oh and I kind of look like a samurai today too...

Estate Sale Finds

With a face swollen and chimpunk cheeks, through a ominous and powerful thunderstorm and zero cash in my wallet, I headed to an estate sale on a THURSDAY! I have never heard of one starting at 5pm on a Thursday, but since it wasn't more than an hour away and was advertised to be all vintage, I went. And while I did not score the massive amount of wonderful vintage I oft dream of, I did find some very pretty dresses and a nice lot of silk scarves. Above all some of the finds from the treacherous estate sale journey!

And in other news, the shop is having a $10 sale!

Ann's House...more in the Estate Sale Trilogy

I know I have already blogged about my finds at this estate sale this weekend and how much I was inspired by the owner, her house and her overall style, but today Chad and I went back, late morning with the sun shining bright because I needed him to meet her , I needed to see that place again and I was going to scoop up all the rest of the clothes that were still there. All three were accomplished and Ann was just as effortlessly beautiful as on Saturday. Chad met her and felt the same way, he also found two coats he liked and bought. This time though, I had my camera and I can share with you how lovely her house was, I only regret I did not get a photo of HER. Once again, I didn't want to leave this enchanting place.
