Me Knickers!

Wanted them, wasn't sure I could pull them off, but thought since I liked them so much that in itself might carry me through. Knickers! And well, I like them tons! These are especially cool in heavy tweed with cool buttons and pocket details. They are a little bit itchy, but can suffer for fashion. But stupidly, I wore these thrifting and I set out in the morning while it was chilly and somehow it got humid later in the day and wool knickers and humidity are a painful combo! The next time I wear these I will likely wear tights and it'll be January when I am certain it won't go all humid on me.

Hat Revival

Ladies, whatever happened to hats? How could one of the most interesting and varied accessories just fall by the wayside? I am on a crusade to bring the hat back. The everyday hat, not just the special fascinator or night out hat, but the daily hat. Why not? They elevate the most basic outfit into something terribly stylish. Put on your favorite jeans and a nice sweater then top it off with a fantastic hat and just bask in all the attention you get in the world, people love people who wear hats! I myself love 1930s-1940s hats the most and have a serious collection that I will not let hide in the my closets! I wear them anywhere and every time I do I get the best compliments. They make is so easy, your outfit can take a backseat, so if you are feeling lazy, just put on a hat! And then when you are feeling fancy well, put on a hat! Here are some amazing photos I nabbed from one of my favorite eye candy sites, My Vintage Vogue. And below is a little sneak peek of the hats that'll be in the shop soon!

I look like the weather

The weather has been crazy gorgeous lately! And no I don't mean I look gorgeous like the weather, I mean this dress is SO what the weather looks like, all those same colors. It is a 1960s homemade corduroy tent dress I picked up for the shop recently and have decided to keep for a while, although it's pretty out of character for me. I don't usually wear such bold prints or tent dresses. But I must say it's way comfortable and it was pretty fun wearing such a print as this all day! I knew I would be running around today and  wasn't going to wash my hair or care about anything else regarding my appearance so I thought this dress would make up for it. I think it done did. I proceeded to go out to my favorites shops and found some amazing finding gems today and had an expected lunch with a friend at one of my favorite spots - butternut squash soup and an espresso...hello! these days are amazing...oh and I had to include a photo of the sleeping Soph because she also looks like the weather. In fact, in the summer she was so easy to spot when she was outside and now she's like a needle in a haystack!

Gray is for happiness!

Let us reclaim gray from it's reputation for being depressing. It's not depressing, it's sooooothing, it chills me out, I can be a bit wound up and I think I like gray so much because it counters that.

Chloe...love.

I think that perhaps one of the biggest innovations in fashion history, ready to wear fashion, while being revolutionary for the garment industry really has done a disservice to most of the general public. Before ready wear, clothing seem to be...well, more special. And made better, thereby lasting longer. And it sort of seems to me that ready to wear fashion quickly spun out of control and is now the clothing most of us wear is substandard in quality and preyy darn homogenious. Which is one of the reasons why I love vintage clothes. I know I run the risk of sounding really snobby in this post, but that is not my aim! I really love clothes, really really love clothes. And all I am saying is that once mass production of them took hold they lost something. This leads me to the Chloe collection for fall winter this year, total ready to wear and that is the idea put forth with no illusion. But it's fantastic ready to wear, the best! Not that I can afford any of it, totally not, but I can be inspired by it and am. There's pretty much nothing I don't like about it, the colors are perfection the fabrics are all the fabrics I love and it's just about one of the most glamorous ways I have seen neutrals. It's like Amelia Earhart meets Annie Hall meets Katherine Hepburn. I see the 1930s/1970s intersection at play here and that is always something I love.
