never say never

You think it'll never happen, you think, "there's no way I'll ever stumble across a bunch of vintage dresses at a yard sale", and then you stumble upon a bunch of dresses at a yard sale and pretty much use all your power not to pee your pants. Happened yesterday, and it happened when I had zero plans of going to any yard sales, because I never really go to yard sales anymore. I was on my way back from an antiques market actually, which proved fruitless, and instead of ignoring the yard sale sign like I usually do, I stopped for some reason - divine intervention! There I found these dresses (some of them 1930s, one even late 1920s) and these necklaces and totally had to look around to see if I was on Candid Camera (does anyone else remember that show?). The dresses have an especially pungent musty odor which is pretty much their only flaw - what the what!?

What about the 1920s/30s brass necklaces though? I mean, I'm nuts for brass jewelry like this, what are the chances I find two at a yard sale? I only now realize as I write this post that the larger necklace is missing a cluster, but I can easily move all the clusters and leaves around to make it look right again. The two new additions are now happily mingling with some other brass necklaces on a wooden rack.

Long story short, never say never people, you just don't know what you can happen when you change your routine, it's certainly a message to me, who can get a bit myopic when it comes to work/life.

Nice haul! I haven't been to garage sales lately. Haven't found much at them the past few years. May have to start going again.

The flapper dresses you see faintly in the background of my shop banner were found at a yard sale among others. And ever since THAT yard sale I'm haunted by the "what if's" everytime I see a yard sale sign which I find a complete nuisance;)

What lovely finds Lauren! I had a similar brass necklace as the fruit cluster one and I can't for the life of me find it :( ultimate sadness.

Amazing! Yeah I never find any vintage clothes at flea markets but my husband and I still go just for fun and a few weeks ago I found a bunch of Levi's from the 1960's I was so excited!

Oh, wow, that is a find. We don't have yard sales in the UK but we do have car boot sales and you can get a bit addicted. I can't pass one by because I feel the one I miss, is the one that will have the most beautiful things...

I love your finds, they look so pretty together! You must have hyperventilated to see such lovelies. I especially love the blue and white dress, I have a total weakness for this colorway and style. Happy hunting!

Amazing and lucky find! I found a bunch of 1920s clothing at a yard sell once. The lady happened to own a vintage store in SF around the 70s.
