black cherried

First of all, a confession: I tried to do my hair in Victory rolls but after too many attempts I just got frustrated and put my hair up in some bastardized version of them, it's not even close, but it is it's own deal and I like it anyway. More confessing: I had zero desire to come to the shop today, at 7:30am this morning I started a pork shoulder in the crock pot, made homemade cole slaw and then made a chocolate, sea salt & hazelnut tart. I just wanted to stay home and continue to cook things. Whenever I am not feeling like working I usually feel like cooking.

The outfit is inspired by THIS POST & I actually did find the lipstick shade I was after, MAC of course, the shade is Hang Up.  It's a little lighter than the ones on the Lena Hoschek runway, but I am pretty bad at wearing lipstick all around so I went a little lighter. I also tried to venture away from MAC, but it's just such nice lipstick, every lipstick I have is MAC, it's also awesome that is smells like chocolate or something like chocolate.

I love everything about this. It's a great juxtaposition of modern and historical elements. Plus, I have a softspot for vintage inspired hairdos and the color maroon.

You are too darn cute! The only lady I know who wakes up to put a roast in a crock pot at 7:30 is my aunt:) You should wear that color as often as possible, so flattering on your skin tone!

Ok. First of all, you did NOT thrift that Betsey Johnson dress?!? Not fair. Second, you have truly out-done yourself this time. This outfit is amazing. I love seeing the shot of you next to the racks in your shop.

I love that dress, so very elegant. And although not the victory rolls you desired, the hair looks quite lovely.

You are surely a wonder woman Lauren! Getting up at 7:30am to cook sweet things to eat sounds amazing. I wish I had it in me to do the same :)
Also, I totally agree MAC does have the best lipsticks... Once I push the baby out, I plan to treat myself to some long over due new makeup and vintage dresses :)

Enjoy your day!

LOVE this outfit and the hair. That is a Betsey Johnson dress?! Wow, I surely would have tagged it as 30s vintage.

And...how does one get in on the leftovers of that tart?

Gorgeous! I absolutely love that dress and color scheme on you. (And your dinner is one of my favorites when I can't get to slows.)

Nars makes great red lipsticks--Viridiana is my current favorite.
