i did cry when i met her

Recently I got up very early and went to a vintage show not too far from where I live. The night before I wasn't sure that I was going to go but then I think, "well you KNOW there's one special thing just waiting for you there don't you?!", so I went. And well, this dress is that very thing that beckoned me to come. I was actually in a booth trying on a coat when I saw this dress hanging on a wall and at first I thought it was crepe, which is nice. Then one I had a closer look I realized it was knit and well, I cried a little. An early 1930s handknit wool and hand-ribboned dress?? And no one had purchased it? And it was $50? A little more crying and then I made it mine and well, you can imagine how happy I am that she lives with me now.

$50!!! What an amazing find this would be at twice or three times that cost. Joy, joy, joy! No wonder you cried... :-)

Such a pretty thing! Sometimes living in NJ you forget about vintage like that, apparently we skipped the 1930s in this state;)

At last ! That's the one I catched a glimpse of last time when you posted pictures of the house, you showed her on a rack and only the flowers on the corsage were already so beautiful to me ! Since then I longed for more, and was so hoping that you would do a special post on her... and tada!
You made my day, this dress looks really beautiful!
Maybe a little transparent on the belly, I'm wondering ?

Oh my--what a darling find! I cannot believe it was only $50--dresses so unique and pretty rarely go for so little. So glad you were able to get it and bring it home. And thank you for sharing all the detail shots with us... I hope you don't mind but I saved them to my inspiration file for vintage clothing. ;) hehe.
