a thrift story

Long ago, before I started the shop, I thrifted just as much as I do now, perhaps even more as I actually left the house every day to go to work. Anyway, one Sunday I was at a thrift store that was about 40 minutes from my house. After shopping for an hour my very last find of the day was the find, an amazing blouse that I felt was the whole reason I had gone to the store in the first place. Well, as it were this blouse was without a price and I don't know how your thrift stores work but this particular chain will not, under any circumstances sell you a garment that doesn't have a price. I seriously could have cried. I begged so hard to the ladies without any power, then I begged to the manager, and note, I am not one to beg and plead. No go, they were not letting me buy it. So I contemplated stealing the damn thing, I was SO desperate! My only recourse was to drive back there the next morning when they open at 9am and it would then have a price. So I did. I got up so early, drove all the way there before work, was late to work, but I got my blouse, ohhhhh I got my blouse (it's cotton! it has toggle buttons!). And above is me in it. The hardest won garment I own.

the pattern and colours are heavenly. Were it me in that blouse I'd stand in front of the mirror all day just to keep looking at it,

Its so beautiful! The same thing happened to me with a faux fur capelet. I couldn't go back the next morning, so instead I had to wait until that evening. I thought about it so much and resolved several times that it wasn't that important, only to know in my heart that it was, to me. When I went back it was there...I was so sure someone else would snap it up.

Your blouse is beautiful. I love the print, the sleeve shape and the toggles, of course. Its so unique and worth the story.

I would beg for that blouse too! It looks gorgeous on you and I love your skirt! I have a particular chain of thrift stores in my area that are also sticklers about items with no price. I'm so glad that you snatched it up. The two of you were meant to be! :)

Haha! The infamous blouse. You certainly did do some serious begging for it. :)

My favorite thrift store has those rules too. It's so heart breaking to find something you love that they WILL NOT let you buy. I'm so glad it worked out for you. Totally worth it.
