So I got this dress. And when I got it it resembled a giant wadded up used kleenex, sorry, but it did. I did not even bother to unfurl it's crinkled and bunched up-ness, I just took it straight to the dry cleaner. I picked it up yesterday and it exceeded all my expectations. I was smitten. I AM smitten. And here's the sad news. She doesn't fit me. SO, I could have it tailored, which I may, or I could just sell her. But it's too hard to decide. I cannot part with her yet...this dress looks like an iced cupcake. For now it/she will live on my dress form whereupon I see her the minute I wake up. Will I keep or sell her, her fate is yet to be decided...
And to balance her, I am wearing a pretty lackluster and totally casual outfit because all I had to do yesterday was pick her up, have lunch with my brother and go to the post office. And all the things I am wearing are thrifted, every one, big surprise.

It really is a wonderful dress. I don't envy your decision.
Thanks doll,

That dress IS gorgeous in that amazing frothy confectiony 50s sort of way, and I can definitely see why you are struck with sartorial agony. Between you and me, though, I think you look just incredible in sleek dresses like that black strappy leather? dress you posted pics of yourself in more recently. Decisions decisions....so hard when a dress follows you home and just makes you fall for its charms ;)
wowza! she's a beauty!
It looks like swirled butter cream....you can use that if you want...beautiful dress. Wear it, even if it's just once.
GORGEOUS! That color reminds me of a frappe! I'm surprised by the ombre fabric— I thought it was a modern trend... shows how much I know about vintage... Do you know what year it's from?

that dress is amazing! I love you outfit too :o)
Thanks for the super sweet comment!
Really pretty, I'm going to play devil's advocate and say that you should keep it!
Whether you decide to have it tailored to fit you or not, I think you should keep it! I have a dress in my studio that's so incredible and fancy and perfect and it also doesn't fit me and I may never have it altered (cause, I mean, let's face it, my prom days are long gone), but something about it makes my entire workspace more pretty - like a really great piece of art.
am i helping at all if i say KEEP IT? it would look beautiful on you!!!!!!
The Baked Alaska dress. Forever, I'll remember this. I love associating clothes with food sometimes. ;)
That dres is perfection - keep it if you can. It's stunning!
I think you should sell it - sell it to me - I love it.
It is a beautiful dress! She's a keeper.
beautiful! love it!
keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep it!!
Anything with a crumbcatcher bust can hang out in my closet anytime, they are a flat chested girls best friend! I would keep it only if it can be altered in a way that can be undone.
The color would be very flattering on you!
Need further advice after all of these lovely ladies? KEEP. Absolutely. It's so pretty.
Side note: All I can think about in that last pic is that it looks like your heels are floating above the floor!
She's lovely.
I say keep.
