It isn't often I mend, soak, rinse, dry & wear a dress all in the same day. But yesterday, when this dress 1920s silk beaded dress arrived I just couldn't wait to "deal with it". I mended some of the beading, then it straight to the soak for a long while, then laid dry before hanging dry and since it was extra hot outside the drying time was minimal so it was ready to put on in just about one hour.
Now, I do realize that this style of dress isn't very flattering on me, 1920s dresses tend to accentuate all the wrong aspects of my body & I appear to have gained about 10 pounds, but really, it's exactly what women in the 1920s who were wearing these dresses looked like - a bit frumpy. There, I said it. If I were super tall and super thin I am sure this dress would look miles better, nevermind that I spent the entire day stain-removing and cleaning various vintage dresses (in the 87 degree heat) so my hair looks pretty lackluster. But that isn't going to stop me from wearing this dress, it's like a work of art!

I think you look absolutely stunning! -the dress is amazing but I couldn't pull off 20's style it looks great on others but I feel more comfortable in 40's and especially 50's, I need a bit of waist;)

This dress is astonishing!!! I was wondering, is it always safe to soak 1920s beaded dresses? I've come across one or two at estate sales and have been hesitant to buy out of fear of ruining them while cleaning. I'm glad to see that's aparently not the case!

What a gorgeous dress! I also thought of "Midnight in Paris" like mama leanne did :) Marion Cotillard wears a yellow dress in it similar to this one. I love this style! I wish I could pull it off as well. I'm too short!

I just want to hold this dress in my hand... it's so beautiful and well-made. I wish there were vintage shops in Indy that carried more flapper dresses. If so, I'd never have any extra money to spend on my house!

You look so beautiful and the buttercup color is great on you. Could you tell us what to soak our vintage dresses in at home? I've used Oxyclean but that seems to harsh for a dress of this fragility.
