when a bust is a boon

Last week I got up before 6am to head to an estate sale that promised a wealth of vintage clothing. Although I was 5th in line according to the number I picked up at the crack of dawn, the numbers ended up not being honored and they started letting anyone and everyone in over an hour early. So, while I was away thinking my place was secure, people were filing in the little house. When I arrived back at the house after going to get some coffee and saw what was happening I was crestfallen and livid. I stepped up and got in, and somehow the room with all the clothing was empty and looked virtually untouched. Yay! The bad news is there weren't any dresses, nor were there any empty spaces on the racks where dresses could have been. What there was though was a closet and a rack full of great early 1960s cotton blouses and early 1960s pencil skirts in great colors. So I nabbed them all and left. When I got home I realized the entire lot I brought home was my size. This blouse and skirt were from the sale and just seemed to go together perfectly. I gave the blouse a wash and iron and wore it for the day with this lemon yellow pencil skirt - I'll tell ya, I delighted in the combination all day long. So, what I thought was a total bust turned out to be quite a little boon!

Hurrah for bust-turned-boons! This outfit is so summery fresh. Ready for those upper-70s temps we might finally be getting!

I've finally learned after 15 years of retail antique sales that there is almost something to be found at the end of the day. Don't get me wrong, I'll still get up at 4am to be first though. LOL
