There's a little bit of just about every decade in this outfit and I'm not going to lie, I had a little bit of trouble reconciling this although I often espouse "mixing it up". I don't know why, but putting the 1940s shoes with the late 1950s dress just irked me some. I got over it and then went ahead and slipped on a 1980s belt, a 1960s ring, another 1960s ring and some 1970s tiny floral earrings.
I thought I'd get all style-y about my photo and add the book I recently bought at an antique shop, Amy Vanderbilt's 'Etiquette', which I have been reading with both a student's attention and a hearty dose of the giggles. I fear that according to the text I am closer to a heathen than a 'lady'. I'll keep reading...

Oh, you look so elegant! Mixing the different decades makes it look all the more timeless. I also have that book, with a cream cover. I use it as a reference book, occasionally. It has a wonderful/amusing chapter on the etiquette of wearing gloves!
I LOVE that outfit! The texture of that dress is wonderful.
Very chic. You look fabulous in that dress.
LOVE that pique! And I have to say, I think mixing it up is the *best* way to go. It certainly works here.
Oh, I love this!!!!! I'm a very confused person with it comes to sticking to certain decades, haha!
I love reading old etiquette books. They're hilarious! I would have definitely been a heathen. We read some Victorian etiquette books in one of my English courses. Just don't make any of the recipes!
This may be my favorite outfit post of yours. Love the dress, shoes, and jewelry. It all goes so well together.
What a stunning, utterly classy ensemble. Very you.
Loooooove the dress... You look amazing!
You look beautiful! You have a wonderful style and eye for all things vintage, really.
I love the 2 ball ring - really pretty. You look good, so go crazy with the decades :)
I don't think there's a thing wrong with this outfit - especially not the 40s shoes with the 50s dress. Just lovely!

That dress is beautiful! So elegant. I think it's great to mix decades - that way you create a still which is totally yours and absolutely unique.
You look awesome in this dress! Like Audrey Hepburn :)
