As many vintage sellers can attest, all too often it isn't even the garment that causes the heart palpatations, it's the tag or label. Certainly the known vintage brands are nice, but even a unknown label can set me into a tizzy of glee. Above are all labels from garments that are either in the shop, have been in the shop or in my closet. And so it would make sense that I think this might be one of my favorite blog posts.

that's an impressive collection of beautiful labels. i thoroughly enjoyed looking at them all!
I love the "made for a nice girl like you" label. :D Some really fab 50's names in there!
I'm easy--just seeing that a label is old excites me! That Hudson's label is a hoot.
This is so great! I collect many other vintage things, often times strictly because of their typography. So, this may be MY favorite of your blog posts. ❤
Oh Lauren this is my kind of post! I love marks/labels!
Oh! I get excited when I find a Nardis. They always end up being the cutest style of dress, but rarely the right size for myself.
I so agree! I sometimes pick things up thinking... 'hm, this is nice'. Then I see the label and I'm SOLD :)
my favorite is when i find things with no tags, that were handmade.
There is just something about a vintage label...
I adore labels! Did you know @plrgvintage has a blog just about vintage labels? Trying to get the link to pass it along.
oh beating heart!
So...I'm not the only one that gets excited over labels?! I love googling a designer that I've never heard of and reading the history...my favorite part of thrifting...this post is awesome!
I don't know if it is the fact that the item I found is indeed vintage or the actual labels themselves. I also love the ILGWU labels. Thanks for shring these!
Beautiful... I think this is one of my favorite posts too!
I totally agree! Great pics. Love that last one!
This is a beautiful round-up. Lovely, lovely labels... le sigh.
SO TRUE...those tags are making my mouth water!!
I agree, finding a good label always makes the heart beat faster. Can't believe you have a Lanvin and a Claire McCardell.
I love this post. Just peeling open the garment to see the graphic vintage lettering is so exciting.

I want to find a blog or website that has all great designers from the 20s-70s and a picture of their label and sample piece. haha! wow, too much to ask I know, but it would be heaven! however, this montage of vintage labels will have to do.. and let me just say, THANK YOU. I love it.
