So this post is a bit of a departure, but I admit I feel a little desperate about something that happened recently and I am hoping to enlist as many eyes I can to lookout for this dress.
Recently I was contacted by a national magazine to supply vintage clothing for a photo shoot, which is great. I sent about 40 items off to New York and was/am very excited to see how it turns out. But sadly, one of my garments was stolen. The above dress, which I had decided long ago I would never sell since I collect 1920s-1930s bohemian clothing, is an exceptional (museum quality) example of just that very thing. So although it did not fit me, I was planning on saving it along with my kitties if ever my house/shop were to burn down (something I pretty much worry about constantly!). So you get how much I love this dress. When I found out it was stolen, I literally burst into tears instantly and just thinking about it still makes my stomach turn. Whomever took it likely took it to sell.
So....all you vintage lovers out there, in your searches if you ever do see this very distinct dress I would be ever so grateful if you would contact me so that I may perhaps be reunited with it someday.
Thanks and sorry for the emotional blather on the blog today, I must say it's a bit embarrassing to post this, but then it's also crushing that someone stole this dress.

Oh, Lauren, this is SO so horrible. I am so sorry this happened to you. I will DEFINITELY keep an eye out and contact you if I ever come across it. What a nightmare!
Oh my goodness, I am so sorry! When I saw the first half of your post, I thought, "I must buy that dress immediately!" so when I read your story I felt what a tragedy this must be for you. Sometimes it's hard for me to have faith in the general goodness of humanity.
(Though I would like to know, if you can tell us, what magazine your clothing will be appearing in.)
That's awful!!! i am so sorry. if i ever see it anywhere i will most definitly contact you.
That is the most gorgeous dress I have ever seen in ages. How *horrible* to have one of your dearest treasures stolen from you, and after you were nice enough to lend it out for others to see and enjoy. I do hope it somehow finds its way back to you soon, and the awful person who stole it gets what's coming to 'em!
Oh my goodness! Sorry for your loss :( Hopefully you'll find it again soon.
I can relate to worrying about your house burning down. I think about that all the time. I have all my photos backed up on discs at my mom's house, just in case. I'm super paranoid!
Good luck in your search!
sad that someone would do that, will look out for it,I'm always on the web shopping all vintage shops, beautiful piece
I thought the same as Mrs. Potts...what a gorgeous dress! but what a shame!!
I used to own a brick and mortar vintage shop and people would occasionally steal from me. It was such a bummer and it would make me so sad that someone would do that. I feel for you Lauren! I've got my fingers crossed for you that it'll turn up.
How awful! Such a stunning dress I can see how you would want to keep it. I live in middle of nowhere NY, but I'll be on the lookout just in case!
Also, I map out escape plans for us and our fur babies in case of fire. I'm horribly worried something could happen to them as well.
That is just terrible. You are such a hardworking person and it is so obvious that you are incredibly passionate about what you do. You don't deserve that. Eyes are peeled. Good luck.

OMG! That's awful! I'm sorry :o(
that is so awful! I don't get some people - it's obviously priceless but stealing it is sheer stupidity. Where ever did they steal it from? NY?
I truly hope you two will be reunited soon enough, it's an amazing dress - I love the dark rich navy color and embroidery detailing. so sad.
UGH... that's horrible, awful and depressing. I hope you are reunited with the dress! It is simply amazing detail.

Oh noes! That's terrible! I'll keep an eye out for it, most definitely.
That's so terrible! I'll keep an eye out. Good luck finding it, it's so beautiful!
Oh, that's absolutely awful! I know you must be absolutely gutted. I don't understand why people do things like this. It's so cheap and horrible. I will definitely keep my eyes open. Many wishes that your lovely dress will come back to you one day soon.
ugh that's just horrible :( what a lovely dress... i will certainly keep an eye out!

That is my favorite dress you've ever posted! I am very sad to hear the news, but you never know what might workout!
Oh no!!! I hope you get some sweet, sweet dress justice. I'll keep my eye out for it too, they don't know what's coming to 'em!
That is terrible. Will definitely keep my eye out for it here, in NYC and online.
Oh, that is heart breaking! Will keep an eye out for it.
That is horrible! Absolutely horrible. I will keep an eye out for you. I can't believe someone would be so dishonest.
Has the magazine done anything to help you recover the dress? Did it go missing on the shoot? The magazine should have some kind of insurance at the very least to cover your items and should reimburse you an estimated cost of the dress (I know it's not about the money, but it's the very least they could do).
Lauren - this is totally unacceptable-unbelievable!!! I am so sorry! What a fantastic opportunity to have your hard-earned finds featured in a publication; and what a heart breaking crappy thing to have happen. Phooey on them. I had a piece stolen from a vintage mall that was one of those "I love this - should I sell it? Should I let it out of my sight?" pieces by a NY vintage dealer shopping out here..... after she made an insulting offer on it and was turned down by the counter guy she offered to put it back. Ha! She walked right out the door with a ton of stuff she'd bought from everyone... AND my dress that she had no second thoughts about stealing! It's such a horrible feeling when people steal, and I am so sorry that this insanely beautiful piece was the victim. Got my eyes peeled!!!!
I'll keep my eyes open - maybe talk to Archivia as well - she's in NYC and has her finger on the vintage in the city.
oh my, that's truly horrible! i can imagine how that hurts... will definitely keep an eye open, this dress has been printed in my memory now!
so sad. i think it's so good that you posted this, though. hopefully one of us vintage huntresses will find it!
Oh, what a blow. I can see why you are so upset, it's a superb dress.
Ill keep an eye out! Im so sorry! keep us posted about the search
