Summer is back, revived if you will, the cold rainy snap has moved on and it's sunny and pretty today. It makes it harder to work, but easier to live. And well, easier to get dressed too. I have been avoiding wearing this dress because I ironed it and once something is ironed it's pretty much going to live in the closet since I hate ironing so much. But I wanted to wear a 1940s dress today and the one I was going to wear had a hole in the arm that I just discovered so I instead chose this one, which isn't a 1940s dress, but sort of 1980s-does 1940s. And I have to say that usually I do not like when the 80s revives the 1940s, it usually just missing something and looking a little tacky. But this dress transcends that fate, I think. And it's suuuuuuper soft, kind of like cotton jammies. I know I'll have to iron it later though, which is just nagging at me, but I think tonight I'll do a whole bundle of ironing and get it over with. Oh and I did my hair for once! Actually I cheated as I just slept in rollers, so I didn't actually "do" that much...

Yesterday I found the Dress of Glory. I went to the local mecca of thrift/treasure stores and this was in the window as I walked up. I didn't dally as I headed the counter and claimed it immediately. It's a lace & chiffon 1920s dress with this delicate details that almost make this thing a relic. The woman at the counter was so pleased that I bought it and told me it would "look glorious on me", which is strange because I had already dubbed it the "dress of glory"! I ended up scoring all sorts of great 1930s-40s items there, which is odd because this place doesn't have many clothes at all, it's more a furniture and trinket place. I am not sure if I will keep this dress, yes it happens to fit! But I think it might be wonderful for a summer bride who loves flapper/1920s style...

Wow! You're right- it is amazing! The photos are great! I have a transparent shifty 20's dress too. If you do sell it, we should have a party first and sport them...eh?
The dress is superb and I quite agree, a summer wedding in the garden, with the bride wearing the dress... HEAVENLY :) What a vintage treasure you found!!!

The pink dress also suits you really well - not 80s tack at all. The colour is so vibrant and the collar is lovely.
