A Tale of Woe

Here lies a once beautiful silk 1930s wedding gown, resplendent with silvery bugle beading and the most flattering of bias cut. But alas, she was fated to never grace another slender body again for she was fatally flawed. Plagued with the dreaded dyness so many vintage dresses suffer. But before she fell to pieces, she offered up this swan song, holding it together for her last grasp at glory only to shred along every seam immediately after. Once the dryness was detected I just started tearing and well, the effect was rather beautiful so I documented it. Sigh...at least I saved the beading and hope to use it again to embellish another dress.

Dear Golden Bridal ♥ no. 1

This year the Dear Golden Bridal collection will be the most fetching yet! The first wave has been photographed and edited and it will be trickling into the shop in the coming weeks. All the while I'll be photographing and editing the rest of the racks of pretty wedding dresses I have been saving for the weddings of 2013. Vive l'amour!

For the past week I have been busy taking photographs of all the vintage wedding dresses I've stockpiled - which takes a lot of time; delicate silks and laces, tiny snaps, rows of buttons and tufts of tulle require much attention. But the work is done & now I reveal to you just some pretty snippets of some of the dresses; there are over 50 now, so this isn't all of them, but I am guessing you get the picture. :)

I wonder sometimes if should I start an Etsy shop just for the bridal selections...

A gorgeous dress, to be sure, but after photographing it I felt the sleeves were a bit too much. 

I am not sure how many brides want to wear such a style. And so...

I removed the sleeves, and I have to say I feel like it makes it much prettier and wearable.

In my stash of 1960s Mademoiselle magazines I found this wedding dress editorial and thought it befitting to post the 1960s wedding dress in my shop with the some photos from the article. I absolutely love the high, romantic lace collar on this dress and the bow at the back adds just that right amount of 1960s sweetness.
