all etsy-ed

Save for the tights, all the things I am wearing are from Etsy. Not only do I sell but lordy, lordy I buy. Maybe more than I should, but it's too easy. I am also courting spring, way too early, but I have got the heat turned way up in the house so I can run around in this getup. It's really sunny outside so in this house it pretty much feels like spring!

hair brained

I have a deep and abiding affinity for fur hats, the bigger the better it seems. They combine my love for two things - vintage hats and vintage fur. It's absurdly cold today and I had planned to drive about an hour to a huge antique mall, but thought better of it and instead ended up shooting all the fur hats. All these will be in the shop, except for the white one, that one will live with me...

The thing is, I think I may have already done a blog post about Francoise Hardy, it would makde sense since I have been enamored of her for about 10 years now. But here's the thing, one of the reason I liked her so much aside from her fantastic French songs and lovely face is her damn hair. I have always loved her hair and I could never grown mine out long enough to make mine like hers, but it dawned on me last night that I have done it! I have her hair! And since I am so happy about this I decided to post about her (maybe again). I know that once spring hits I will once again drive through the town with the sunroof open listening to Tous Les Garcons and singing only 1/4 of the words since my French is so very very poor.

it holds tight

I like winter, I do. But there are times during January where it feels like the winter will never end. We are in the middle of a particularly cold snap right now and though I was very excited that it was snowing last night I am getting that "it's going on too long feeling". Good things there are always plenty of cute clothes and coats to wear throughout the winter! Here is a shop update of recent shop additions that won't leave you in the cold! Bad joke...sorry....

these precious things

This past weekend Mr. DG and I spent Saturday at a couple of antique malls, my favorite vintage shop and out to a fancy dinner. I am not sure how I get him to go to these places with me, I think it's the "there might be records there!", and at the vintage store there are! In fact I was done shopping before him, ha! Above is my outfit, obviously, which is all thrifted and also a photo of my necklaces for no real reason at all. Below are some scenes from one of the antique malls, one of my most favorites places to go, there is always so much stuff...but then, I also end up spending much money. This trip proved to be no exception.

to read a poem in January...

what happens when i turn off the internets

Friday night I found myself without any plans, which is nice. Unintentionally, I fell into this really sweet blissful mood where I wanted to rearrange the guest room. It was already about 11 o'clock at night when I started, but I turned on the radio and listened to a really cool radio show called The Signal on CBC Radio that was playing the most beautiful, spare and experiemental music. I spent the next few hours hanging dresses and pictures, moving furniture, going through drawers and finding little things, organizing the closet, trying on dresses I had not put on yet and it felt so calming and almost trance-like. And when I was done the fruits of my labor looked like the above. I took the photos the next morning and basically wanted to spend the whole day in the guest room...
