Michiganstagram

Michigan is an amazing state - not to mention a huge one. Last week we drove 8 hours to Lake Superior in the upper peninsula for five days of not much more than hiking, road biking, eating, reading & sleeping (outside of hunting there REALLY isn't much more to do up in the upper peninsula). The trip was a wild success insofar as we excelled at all the aforementioned activities. While I expected all of that, I did not expect to drive home with 5 garbage bags full of pretty amazing vintage in the car - I swear I wasn't hunting vintage on my vacation this time, it literally found me!

If you are on Instagram & wanna check out my photos I am, unsurprisingly DEARGOLDEN. :)

Morningside Park & last day

It took us until the last day to realize that Morningside Park was mere blocks from us and it's a very pretty place. We started out day there, with a very subpar Dunkin' Donuts coffee (I am such a coffee snob!), but we walked up the maze of stairs toward Columbia University which was a very beautiful area that I liked a lot. And lo and behold an outfit post!

Dress - by Rogan, but thrifted!
Boots - thrifted

Oysters at Grand Central

On our honeymoon we went to Grand Central Oyster Bar whereupon we discovered the utter delight of raw oysters for the first time. I didn't think I'd like them, but we totally into trying them, so we did and it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. We took sillly photos then of us acting nerdy with the oysters so we recreated the scene thing time and here it is. Funny only to us, but whatever! We sat at the same seat because it's is right below a sign for a boat painting that says Detroit, so we have to represent! The food at Grand Central Oyster bar is pretty tasteless,it's like old folks home food, but the wine list is madness and the oyster list seems endless and it is all dark and rustic in there, as though you are on a big boat, so we like it.

Doors of the Washington Mews

The days were sunny and hot and it was apparently the first of the super nice weather in the city so there were throngs of people out at all times. The parks were always full, but the live music in them was such a great treat. This bluegrassy-vaudeville band that was playing had our attention for quite a long while.

Walking near Washington Square we wandered through this little gated (but open!) corridor that looks so cute, it reminded me of the little streets in Brighton, England. All the doors were different and neat looking so I snapped some. When we exited the otherside, we saw the sign that basically said we weren't even allowed to walk in there. But true to form, we were rule breakers. Such deviants! Walking through mews and everything!
