bubbling over

I am so excited. As a person who has never taken a "warm weather" vacation or experienced a "tropical getaway", my vacations are usually spent visiting friends and staying at their houses or going to cabins in the woods or staying in bed & breakfasts in quaint little neighborhoods, usually in climates even colder than my own. But after spending the last three years without an actual vacation (meaning one where I did not work at all) I felt it was time to take the ultimate vacation. The vacation where the hotel matters because you don't do much more than lay around in the sun, have cocktails delivered to you, eat amazing food and sleep like a baby. This vacation has been a long time in the making, I actually doubted whether it would ever happen, I thought maybe there was something wrong with me and I had become and working machine unable to separate myself from the shop, but the level of excitement I have surrounding the trip to Miami I planned just yesterday tells me there is hope, I might love 4 days of ignoring Dear Golden completely!

Because the trip is short and because it's so hard won, I splurged, I booked our stay at The Raleigh, the hotel came highly recommended, everyone who responded to my tweet on Twitter about where to stay said to stay there. I thought, no way, can't - and then did. Thankfully I only have to wait just over a week before I find myself with in a lounger with a gin cocktail in my hand so if you'll excuse me I have to go try on all my bathing suits on this winter-worn body of mine...

Miami was one of the best trips I've ever taken! You MUST indulge in the seafood, it was one of my favorite things about the area. (Fresh ceviche, mmmm!) P.s. Flea markets in South Beach on the weekend are chock full of awesome vintage clothing AND jewelry. Have fun and share pics!
