Dress the part

Tomorrow vacation starts and I will be spending two nights at The Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill in Kentucky and I am, like a nerd, totally excited. Above is a photo of the accomodations and the dining room. There is 40 miles of trails there, horses, birdwatching and well, what I am really looking forward to is the the spare, reserved surroundings. I need a break and this place looks like the perfect place. Although I can see that I might just get really inspired and instead buzz with anticipation to get home and either make the house as Shaker as possible or throw out all my clothes that are brightly colored (although I am already half way to both of these!).

In anticipation of the trip I am wearing something that is vaguely Amish...lol! I love this jumper so much and even moreso because it can be a summer or winter dress.

    Have a wonderful time! My sister and her husband live pretty close to there. Unfortunately, I haven't been yet. They take other guests, but not us. The next time we head down to Kentucky we will have to stop. Thanks for the reminder.

    i have to admit i am really jealous. Shaker is one of my most favorite type of furniture. And you have to love people who want to live in communes! oh and your dress looks amazing too. much love old friend. Jenny

    Lauren, I think you will love Shaker Village. The dining room is so very nice. You must do the tour if you have time :) and you will see some amazing stonework fences. Enjoy the Kentucky Hospitality :)
