the mix-up

If ever I wanted to call a thing "my precious", it'd be this blouse. Sumptuous 1920s silk with the right amount of sturdiness for wearability. It never had a chance of making it into the shop and if I could I'd hunt down every garment like it on the face of this earth. I'll admit that I am not entirely sure if this is a 1920s middy blouse (though those are usually in slightly more casual fabrics) or a little girl's dress from the 1920s. My inclination is that it's a middy blouse, but really it doesn't matter what it is, it's a thing of beauty! I like mixing it with very modern jeans and boots.

suno = perfect prints

perfect perfect perfect prints. perfect perfect perfect print mixing! perfect colors! i think i made some audible exasperated little noise when i saw this suno collection. i need to mix prints more, i vow to, this spring, print mixing! i am now really looking forward to it. now, i do have to say that there is something going on here i do not like - the hair. the front set ratty beehive look isn't working for me. maybe the tame one in photo 3, but otherwise, no thank you. whatever, let's focus on those gorgeous prints!

bryter layter

We made me set up for another snowstorm, but that didn't stop me from adding some brighter pieces to the shop as a (long) look ahead for spring...all of the above are now available in the shop!

birthday black

The weather is always pretty horrible on my birthday, others with a birthday in February can sympathize. I always wanted a birthday in September or October when the weather is ideal.  This birthday was no exception - freezing cold, but a little sun!  So yesterday I let my jewelry be my "fancy" and the clothing be cozy and warm. It is befitting since I am thoroughly obsessed with Victorian lockets right these days.

many moons ago...

Today is my birthday, three days ago was my mom's birthday. Befittingly she is here with me at my house for 5 days since a winter storm rendered her house without power for 5 days. So there's a lot of sewing, some baking, some thrifting and even a perfunctory dose of bickering filling the days. She also told me she was in labor with me for 12 hours while she laughed through my brother's labor three years later, so that was nice to hear. :/

I'll be spending my birthday with Chad (Mr. DG) in Detroit, vintage shopping, antique mall browsing and gin drinking. So yeah, just like a regular Saturday, only it's Wednesday.

it's like russia now

A shop update from what is beginning to feel like Russia with the miles and miles of snow! The shop has been throughly updated and I'll be continuing to add pieces through tomorrow because frankly, I'm snowed in completely!
